I.Description of the Gear Shifting System #
The main purpose of the bicycle gear shifting system is to help riders maintain a comfortable cadence and speed by changing the gear ratio, depending on different road conditions and riding circumstances. It typically consists of the front and rear derailleurs, chain, cassette, and gear shifters. As shown in the image below.
II.Precautions #
1、Avoid Gear Slipping: When shifting gears, avoid making sudden large shifts, as this can cause the chain to slip or damage the derailleur.
2、Timing of Shifting: It is recommended to shift gears when the pedals are in a horizontal position, which reduces the tension on the chain and makes shifting easier.
3、Chain Maintenance: Regularly clean and lubricate the chain to ensure smooth gear shifting.
III.Operation Steps #
1、Shifter Position:
The shifter is installed on the right side of the handlebar, as shown in Image (1). There are two shifters, one for the front derailleur and one for the rear derailleur. “①: Front, ②: Rear,” as shown in Image (2).
2、+ Gear (Up Shift):
When pushing the front shifter backward, as shown in Image (1), the chain on the flywheel will shift to a larger cog, as shown in Image (2). This is suitable for uphill riding.
3、1 Gear (Down Shift)
When pushing the rear shifter backward, as shown in Image (1), the chain on the flywheel will shift to a smaller cog, as shown in Image (2). This is suitable for flat terrain or acceleration.
