If your ebike makes unusual noises while riding, or if you’ve recently replaced the brake pads or disc rotors, it’s important to re-adjust the brakes to ensure optimal riding performance and experience. Here is a simple guide for adjusting the brakes for your reference.
I.Tools Preparation #
Choose the appropriate tools according to your brake type.
①、 T25 Wrench (For MAGURA Brakes)
②、 5mm Hex Wrench (For TEKTRO Brakes)
II.Precautions #
1、Ensure the ebike is stably placed on the ground during the adjustment process to avoid tipping and injury. Alternatively, use a bike repair stand for the adjustments.
2、After the adjustment is completed, test the brakes on a safe road. Ensure there is no noise or vibration during braking and that the braking performance is optimal before normal riding.
III.Adjustment Steps #
1、Using a T25 wrench for MAGURA brakes or a 5mm hex wrench for TEKTRO brakes, rotate in the direction of the arrow to loosen the two mounting bolts on the caliper (as shown below).
2、After loosening the mounting bolts, move the caliper left and right, as shown in Figure (1). Align the brake disc so it is centered within the caliper, as shown in Figure (2).
3、Once the brake disc is centered within the caliper, use a wrench to tighten the two mounting bolts on the caliper by turning them in the direction of the arrows. Tighten to a torque of 5-6 N·m, approximately 0.51 to 0.612 kgf (as shown below).
4、Rotate the wheel and observe whether the caliper rubs against the brake disc, causing noise. If there is any rubbing, repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 of the adjustment process until no noise is produced. Once there is no rubbing or noise, the brake adjustment is complete.
